One of my favorite beading techniques is to take a stone or bone cabochon and then create a setting for it using seed beads. For this pendant, I combined a beautiful carved face of bone and a long leopardskin jasper oval to form the body, creating an Earth Goddess.

Earth Goddess Pendant Inspirations

On my summer adventure, I was awed by the beautiful earthy colors that I saw in Arizona, especially around Sedona and the Painted Desert. I came home inspired by those colors to create the earth goddess pendant. The leopardskin jasper, one of my favorite stones, proved the perfect choice to translate those beautiful images into wearable art.

I love this new magazine! Many, many new projects, plus an awesome quick and easy bonus section! I can’t wait to work up the Starflower earrings by Janis Loehr! This is a newstand only bonus, and my issues have it.  There’s also a new project by Sheri Serafini, one of my favorite designers. She was chosen as one of the designers of 2011 for the magazine…… with this  new issue, they have expanded, with new projects, tips and ideas.

The new Feb-March issue is wonderful…with  fun and funky projects!  The front cover has me thinking about spring… I love that there are  projects for all skill levels and a wonderful mix of techniques,  metals, and ideas… fun! The gypsy skirt earrings by Joanne Ortiz is one of my favorites, but with so many projects it’s hard to choose.

Looking thru pictures of my work, we chose a photo of my Rose Quartz Wave Pendant, currently on display here in the shop. (It is for sale, btw)

Tink showed me how to resize it for the web and then used a nifty little program to make it look like a polaroid picture.

Next she showed me how to add it to this post. I have taken COPIOUS notes and have my fingers crossed that I’ll be able to do it on my own once she is gone!

When customers come into FISH WISDOM BEADS with a project in mind… it is always a pleasure to help them choose their beads.

Sometimes it is matching beads they already have…. or they are simply  looking for something new and interesting  to add to their collection….. and sometimes they just want a second opinion about if the beads work together.

We lay out the beads and  talk about the colors….texture…..size….and we may add something or take away ….. and we usually end up talking about our love of beads…

I have met some really great people here at the bead store… and I myself have learned new tricks and techniques from my customers…. I have made new friends and have old friends that I only see once or twice a year when they are passing through BEREA…..they always stop and say hi… to see if I still carry a certain bead they really loved…..or to show me new pieces they are working on…..(beads travel easy).

I have always tried to make FISH WISDOM BEADS a place where you can feel comfortable…… so come in and let’s talk about beads or whatever else comes to mind!

I am getting a shipment of sterling silver beads and findings tomorrow… yea!!

Yesterday, I  was working on a pendant, in which I was using these fantastic green matte seed beads…

I stopped, because I was not sure which beads I wanted to add next, ( the green iris bugles or the olive matte size 15’s ) so I put it to the side for a bit and started working on some earrings… which got  me to thinking that even though I may have a design in mind… I usually just start working and let the flow and colors of the piece , lead me to the finish.

Then Marita  walked into my shop… she told me she was visiting Berea….  we started discussing beads and jewelry design and she asked me about one of my large pieces and if I had planned the design or just started beading and just flowed with it….

This particular piece I had designed the original shape , but I  took my inspiration from the colors and shapes of the beads. Then, I told her how funny……I was just thinking about how even though I may have a design in mind , I  just go with the flow….

Then she explained that she did abstract energy portraits with chalk pastels…. she just goes with the flow…

So.. I had her do my portrait .. VERY COOL….  Imagination Flows..

So, when you visit FishWisdom Beads…  take a look at my portrait and when your picking out your beads….. let your  imagination flow!!!

Beautiful new beads…I have 21 new colors of size 13 charlottes, would love to post picture’s, but will have to wait for Tink to come back into town to help me.

I have metallic gold and silver, reds, blues, greens, yellows, iris colors (blue, purple,green).

I was excited (I am always excited when I get new beads in!!) , but I have been working alot with Rivoli’s , and just got in some new topaz 12mm, and can’t wait to use the metallic gold and pearl cream charlottes with them.

I am not sure which project they are going to go into yet, but I have some new ideas… and I am going to have some fun!
